We are here, friends and family, gathered together. With great joy and emotion To CELEBRATE the union of Karina Borges and Ryan Ericksen, we would like to thank God and all of you who attended.
At my first meeting — which was with the bride — I was "instructed" not to talk as much as I would have liked, as I was planning to spend about two hours talking to you all about the REASONS that led Karina to the other side of the world and made her tread the most diverse and unforeseen paths until we arrived here, at this sublime moment, where we celebrate the realization of this relationship worthy of, without exaggeration, even becoming... FILM SCRIPT, Yes!
As I interviewed the couple and learned their stories, it was inevitable that I would start visualizing scenes that would fit perfectly into one of those big Hollywood productions, for example.
OPENING SCENE:
The young protagonist, about 20 years ago, enters school and meets the friends who will accompany him throughout the story —Incidentally, this is such a true bond that these loyal friends are even here today!
After several adventures, the hero and his friends embark on various grand journeys to explore the world, passing through Central America, Asia, South America, and, during their time in Europe, Ryan ends up staying in London for three years.
CUT TO THE OPENING SCENE!
Another promise I made to our protagonist is that this story would be bilingual, especially the part where we talk about her. So…
SECOND SCENE (IT WAS SAID IN ENGLISH)
Our young woman had a slight feeling that something very important could happen when she left Brazil, but she was a little afraid of moving away from everything that was safe for her, for example, her partnership with her sister, Karen —Like a typical movie crew, Karina told me that she was usually the courage, while Karen was the balance, the thinking before acting… one always complementing the other…
But, as I was saying, our heroine has always been pure action and, literally, threw herself into a ADVENTURE IN SPACE AND TIME…
Wow! That sounded amazing, didn't it?
But this is the absolute truth: I said space because… do you have any idea how far Australia is from here?
It's so far away that it literally requires time travel: we have to move forward in time to reach… the future.
CUT TO THE SECOND SCENE! (RETURNS TO SPEECH IN PORTUGUESE)
I imagine everyone here knows about the time difference, which is quite interesting, between our country and theirs, as they can be up to an impressive 10 hours ahead of us!!!
This means that now, while we're still going to drink here at the party... in Australia we're already waking up with hangovers!
NOW COMES THAT PART OF THE MOVIE WHERE YOU MIGHT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING MORE POPCORN, BUT PLEASE STAY... THERE WILL BE CAKE!
After so many trips, Ryan was no longer a teenager: he was back in his native country, living and working in the capital of Western Australia, and whenever he could he would go surfing the Australian waves, but one night, in a bar in the city of Perth…
(SAID IN ENGLISH) Almost two years had passed since the intense emotions of going out to experience Outback, and Karina's life was becoming "normal": studying; working…
Contact with family—so dear and, normally, so present—was only virtual or by phone… in short, not even parties and their drinks could prevent the monotony until one night, in a bar in the city of Perth…
So... what happened at that bar in Perth?
I wasn't there to know if it was a glance or a bump, but certainly the The most crucial moment of our entire story was in that bar in Perth.The first time they saw each other, the first time they talked… I'm not sure if He was dancing right in the center of the dance floor., But it was certainly the first time they had drunk together!
It could have been just another fleeting encounter, but Karina's joy and vivacity quickly caught Ryan's attention: there was something about her that was different from anything he had ever seen before, and suddenly, someone who could have gone unnoticed began to become a character in Ryan's life story.
Karina, for her part, could never have imagined that, so soon after that night, her health would put her in such a serious emergency that she would end up having to be hospitalized, but she could count on an unexpected and loyal companion: Ryan!
(Could we say, in this case, that some evils lead to good?)
According to herself, since there was not yet, in fact, a more serious commitment., the fact that he remained by her side, when it would be so much easier to go out and do more fun things., he was STRIKING, Because she had never met anyone with such a capacity to give of themselves.
There, in that completely unexpected situation, Karina finally discovered... MAIN REASON for having gone so far: TO FIND THE LOVE OF HER LIFE.
(Now I'm going to reveal the final twist for those who didn't believe in my idea for a film script)
And there, having chosen to care for Karina in a hospital, Ryan Ericksen proved to be, indeed, a TRUE HERO!
Enough with the movies!
While I was here, narrating this romantic adventure to you, I ended up realizing that, unintentionally, I'm playing the villain: while I'm talking here, I'll be preventing our heroes from kissing, but... they themselves asked me to do this!
And I need to talk, at least a little, about RELATIONSHIP.
IT'S ALL ABOUT FAMILY
And I am absolutely certain that excellent and important decisions have already been made for the establishment of the new and beautiful family that decided to celebrate the officialization of their union tonight here in Rio de Janeiro: just as Karina recounts how well she was welcomed by Ryan's family in Australia, we are here so that you all can meet and warmly welcome the man who will take care of her here, there… and wherever she goes!
Always set goals and be prepared for reality.
Know that the main currency accepted for achieving dreams... is called reality!
For example?
One piece of advice I give to men who dream of having increasingly beautiful wives is: encourage and allow her to exercise!
(This is the most natural and least risky method, at least…)
Another example?
To couples eager to have children, I always recommend being prepared to spend many sleepless nights… and not partying or drinking!! (And not so romantic either…)
But the children, who are beautiful and bring joy to our lives, will grow up, graduate… and there the couple will be, alone again!
So it's good to always agree on realistic goals to achieve: always have a trip, an accomplishment, a good deed... always have something planned to do together!
Want to be happy? Make him happy! Want to be happy? Make her happy!
We live in a time of selfishness where we see most people thinking only of themselves…
I've seen many marriages break down for no apparent reason, while the couple claims to be simply "seeking happiness"...
Now, there is a passage in a well-known and important book where one can read that “"Love does not seek its own interests."” And this is a revelation of the greatest wisdom, because, remembering how Ryan behaved in the hospital:
The most perfect and complete relationship will only occur when One is able to recognize and care for the needs of the other.,
Mutually full of respect and without fear of any harm, because we will know that at the exact same time that we dedicate ourselves to this, the other person will also be aware of and taking care of our needs!
There's so much more I could say, but I don't like thinking of myself as a villain: I believe now is the right time to start celebrating the transformation of what are two... into one!
This union — also called family — is so powerful that it can be considered the core of all humanity, being established by the most solid and beautiful bond. ALLIANCE that may exist.
