A Philosophical and Chemical Question…

I think I've consumed too much fiction…

I put the (pre-baked!) lasagna in the oven and decided to wash the dishes while I waited. Since the kitchen light was off, some mosquitoes decided I would make a good lunch and showed up to sniff around me.
After the first bite, I got annoyed and decided to exterminate them — yes, I'm politically incorrect! — and I was prevented from indulging my murderous instincts by a shocking discovery: we ran out of insecticide at home!!

I rummaged around, turned things upside down… and finally found some cans of insect repellent: I turned on the kitchen light and, with my ninja reflexes acquired after years of rigorous training, managed to capture—alive and without exploding!—a specimen with the tips of my fingers. Now… the question:

If I spray insect repellent on a mosquito… will it implode or spend the rest of its life as an outcast, running from itself and its fellow humans?
